Hello, my lovely readers!

Hope you’re finding a little calm in your week.

I’ve been going to a handful of events lately, and it reminded me how much I learn just by being in the room. And it also reminded me that I haven’t been sharing enough of that with you.

So here’s what I’m doing from now on: at the end of each month, I’ll giving you a little run down of what I’ve learned, what I’m working on, and why I’m doing it. Because keeping that to myself doesn’t build the kind of community I want us to have here.

Imagine we’re catching up as friends. That’s the vibe I’m going for. - Ramir

What I love most? There aren’t too many design job sites that cover jobs globally. Really appreciate the time they take into finding opportunities.

What could be improved or added? The Club, Mentor, Briefs, and Recruiting features are still in progress. So things like mentor booking and the club sign‑up are down. For now, their Instagram is the best place to stay updated. It’s a small job board, so just keep checking back as new roles pop up.

Below are a few standout roles from We the Makers along with a few extras I’ve handpicked from beyond the platform.

What I’ve learned this month

From vibe coding to learning about trademark laws, this month has been full of small lessons that shifted how I think about my work.

What I’ve learned:

From Lena Kul’s How Recruiters Evaluate You in 2026, I learned need to niche down. Not by forcing yourself into a tiny box, but by getting honest about who you are and what you want do.

She shared an writing exercise to do:

  • your top 3 things you’re genuinely good at

  • your top 5 things you love doing

  • your top 5 things you don’t enjoy doing

What I’m working on:

  1. I keep hearing the same message at every event: build in public. People aren’t just talking about it as a trend; they’re saying it’s how they’re finding collaborators, getting hired, and discovering talent they never would’ve met otherwise.

  2. Copyright, trademarks, and even the question of who owns what when AI is involved. It’s a lot to navigate. I’ll be sharing more events and talks so you can learn how to protect your work, both in the U.S. and internationally.

Why I’m doing it:

I love collaborating with people, and I love a good idea. But for that to happen, I have to be more open about what I’m working on. Sharing invites the right people in.

What’s one thing you want to learn this year?
Hit reply or comment to let me know. I’ll keep an eye out for opportunities that align with what you’re interested in exploring.

Extra! Extra!

Sometimes when I’m searching for jobs, I find events, news, interesting companies or people. These are the extra bits.

📰 Extras I’ve Found This Week:

  • This February 4 at 1 p.m. ET, the U.S. Copyright Office is offering a free online session walking filmmakers through essential copyright concepts. Speakers will unpack common pitfalls, key protections, and the tools available to help creators navigate their rights.

  • Open to citizens aged 21–35, The Marten Bequest offers Australian artists $50,000 to travel, study, and deepen their craft, with 2026 scholarships open for acting, instrumental music, painting, and poetry. This two‑year opportunity supports training, mentorship, and creative development across Australia and overseas. Apply by Feb 3rd at 3pm AEDT.

  • Imperial College London is recruiting a PhD researcher to rethink how accessible musical instruments are designed by centering disabled musicians’ lived experience alongside engineering practice. Apply by Feb 15th!

📬 Reply and share your favorite companies, any upcoming events, or opportunities. I’d love to feature them next! If you have any feedback too, please reply or comment on this email.

Good luck with the search this week!
